Filigran Redefines Proactive Security: OpenBAS Rebrands to OpenAEV with an AI-Powered Enterprise Edition

Filigran is evolving OpenBAS solution into OpenAEV (Adversarial Exposure Validation), moving beyond control validation to full threat exposure management. The company is also launching OpenAEV Enterprise Edition, a paid version, with advanced automation and AI capabilities to help teams validate and reduce cyber risk.

Filigran Redefines Proactive Security: OpenBAS Rebrands to OpenAEV with an AI-Powered Enterprise Edition

Paris, October 29, 2025 – Filigran, the European cybertech company specializing in open-source cybersecurity solutions, announces a major milestone in its leadership in exposure management to support Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) initiatives. Its breach and attack simulation (BAS) platform is being rebranded as OpenAEV (Adversarial Exposure Validation) and is launching a new Enterprise Edition (EE) designed for advanced security teams.

This name change reflects the evolution of the solution, which now goes far beyond simple simulation to align with the new Adversarial Exposure Validation (AEV) paradigm. OpenAEV offers a broader, more adaptive, and threat-informed defense approach, enabling organizations to continuously validate their overall security posture, including the human element.

“Breach and attack simulation (BAS) no longer captures the full value that modern risk assessment platforms deliver,” explains Samuel Hassine, CEO of Filigran. “With OpenAEV, we are providing a converged capability to continuously and proactively assess your cyber defenses. It’s no longer sufficient to just simulate attacks, but knowing what’s priority and relevance for your business to actually reduce cyber risk. Our unique approach of integrating threat intelligence (via OpenCTI) is providing risk-based validation to our customers. Our goal is to help CISOs dramatically enhance their AEV capabilities, both technically and humanly.”

Organizations are inundated with threat and vulnerability data but lack the context to act. In 2024, more than 40,000 new software vulnerabilities were disclosed. Each represents potential exposure, but without understanding exploitability in their own environment, prioritization becomes an insurmountable task, so much so that even critical issues take an average of 45 days to remediate.

OpenAEV: Priroritize, Test and Fix

OpenAEV is the first open-source, threat intelligence-driven AEV platform on the market. It provides organizations with a proactive methodology for exposure assessment, helping them anticipate and neutralize cyber threats before they materialize.

Combining threat intelligence and vulnerability information (coming from OpenCTI) and emulating real-world attack scenarios based on the MITRE ATT&CK framework, OpenAEV enables organizations to:

  • Prioritize: Validate defenses against the most critical vulnerabilities and relevant threats.
  • Validate: Emulate real attacks to measure the resilience of existing security tools (EDR, firewalls, etc.).
  • Test human readiness: Close the loop with tabletop exercises to assess team responses.
  • Accelerate remediation: Access actionable security control guidance.

Launch of the Enterprise Edition: AI at the Core of Validation

While the OpenAEV Community Edition (CE) remains free, open-source, and already includes robust features (OpenCTI integration, XTM Hub scenario library, custom dashboards), the new OpenAEV Enterprise Edition (EE) marks a major leap forward in automation and efficiency for large organizations and mature security teams.

The Enterprise Edition capabilities include:

  • AI-assisted scenario generation for faster processing of threat intelligence and CERT reports
  • Multi-option remediation recommendations for risk-based prioritization and sequencing
  • Validation through existing EDR agents for seamless execution and without requiring additional overheads on already resource-constrainted endpoints
  • SaaS environment hosted by Filigran
  • Dedicated customer support from a committed team of experts

With OpenAEV, Filigran reaffirms its mission: to transform threat and exposure data into validated, actionable security outcomes, through the industry’s first open-source, threat-informed AEV platform.
